Dance Team

UWTR-

So when professional dancer/model/singer Carlus Reed came to town for a photo shoot I had to at least try the underwater dance gig. I have had both Tori Rymer and Carlus in the water before but never two at one time. Lets just say I am very pleased at the results form our aquatic encounter..

Water World

DSC_7909-EditIt only makes sense when the whale sharks show up that the Mer people would also. This was captured Northeast of Isla Mujeres MX last year. One of the more difficult captures I have taken. Not because the image is difficult to take but I was sea sick. Like so sea sick I give the camera to Handler because I thought I was going to pass out. Rule one, Always save the camera.  And to make things worse I had gotten a killer head cold on the trip down to the island.  Luck did turn my way however there just happened to be a Mermaid convention on the island that week.

Water Baby

When I was first asked to do KaiLee’s underwater maternity photos I was a bit concerned about how the water might affect the unborn child.  The big one was the pressure of the water going to induce labor in a 36 week pregnancy? The other was would the mother holding her breath have a negative affect on the baby? So I set up a few meetings with a couple of OB physicians in town to see what they had to say.  They pretty much told me the baby would extract oxygen form the mother no matter what. It might affect the mothers ability to holding her breath but the baby would be fine. If it did induce labor, unlikely, the baby was going to be coming out very soon anyway.  So with that information in hand, I ventured into the realm of underwater maternity photos. A little tricky but defiantly worth the energy and time. Interesting question here, would a pregnant woman underwater be considered a submarine?

Bottle Neck

TR-7528wmsmOnce a year, the largest fish in the ocean congregate off the cost of Isla Mujeres to feed.  They arrive in early July and remain until late August feeding on the Skip Jack or Oceanic Bonito eggs.  As they feed the become so gorged from the food that they literally stop swimming and go vertical in the water.

Infant Swimmer.

When I say infant photo shoot in the water most people blow me off. When they realize I’m serious they think I’m CRAZY. When they see the photos they are amazed. Babies do very well in the water after the initial shock of being put in the pool. They hold there breath naturally and even make swimming strokes. Of course they act like little flotation devices because of there body composition. They shoot straight to the top of the water.KQ-0116wmsm

High fashion make up for a Liquid Art session with the beautiful Sarah Blakley. One of the cool things about Liquid Art is the ability to get creative with the make up and hair. There are no set rules that the fluids will follow so why not get creative with the make up and hair style. I have a great team of that supports my passion. Make up concept is by Ryan Deering. Hair concept by the one and only Maynette. Of course I did pick out the paint color and built the set.
